Stormy Waters

Get enough cushions (or Soft Play Shapes) so there is one per person. You'll need to play some background music. Tell the children that they are in the sea and to start "swimming" around to the music. When you stop the music shout out "There's a storm coming - dash to an island!". Everyone must jump onto a cushion so no part of their body is touching the sea (the floor).

Start the music again and the game resumes with a new variation. Ask them to be fishes, swimming in the sea. When you stop the music tell them there is a big shark coming to eat them.

You can try other ideas such as
- crocodiles
- pirates
- jellyfish

with the children
- being dolphins
- rowing boats
- surfing
- being crabs
- being mermaids
etc

Give everyone a clap and a prize for joining in.

You can remove a cushion each time if you want to make this game competitive, and one person then goes out each round until you get a winner.

Great fun for the little ones!

Musical Statues

This simple game is similar to musical chairs - except you need no chairs! Kids always enjoy it.

Everyone dances around to your music until you stop the song. They must then freeze completely - in whatever dancing position they were in. Anybody caught moving is out.

Start the music again fairly quickly and keep repeating until you have a winner. The non-players can help you spot any statue movements.

Pass The Parcel

An old classic that always goes down well at a kids party.

Wrap up a gift in wrapping paper, then hide several more sweets and smaller gifts in further layers of wrapping paper. Ensure you have enough layers for the number of children playing.

To play the game, get everyone sitting in a tight circle, then start your music. The kids must pass the parcel around from person to person, until you stop the music. Whoever has the parcel when the music stops can unwrap a layer and claim the prize in that layer (if there is one). Keep going until somebody wins the main prize.

Make sure you stop the music at the right time to ensure everyone gets a turn to unwrap a layer.
